Via Baltica Nordica Tourism Development

Vision
Via Baltica Nordica will be the main tourist route in the Baltic Sea Region!
This is the new North-South link in Europe connecting the Atlantic Sea up in North, Baltic Sea Region in between, to the Mediterranean Sea in South. The route goes through seven EU member countries offering culture, history and nature with activities and events.

Objectives
- Increase tourism and thus develop regions of the zone according to the principles of sustainable development
- Increase the awareness and knowledge of the VBN zone and create own identity for its products
- Combine different modes of transport and thus make travelling easy and safe
- Create service entities including signing, information, products and reservation systems
- Increase competence of the VBN regions in tourism sector
- Link VBN with other routes to Russia and Scandinavia as well as with routes around the Baltic Sea
- Create such commitment between regional and national authorities to the project that co-operation will continue

Strategies
- Carry out research on present state of tourist flows and tourist services along the Via Baltica Nordica zone
- Create a common guidance and information system for the zone by utilizing modern IT
- Develop tourist products distinctive to the VBN zone
- Establish a common marketing strategy and plan for the zone
- Organise annual tourist conference
